GOLD GROUP

Mission

The Gold Group is designed to develop highly skilled age-group swimmers, ages 10-13, by refining stroke mechanics, introducing advanced swimming concepts, and enhancing race strategies. This group focuses on building the technical foundation and conditioning needed to compete at a state level, while fostering a strong work ethic and goal-setting mindset. Swimmers in this group aim to meet age-appropriate qualifying standards and prepare for the demands of higher-level training, such as the Platinum Group.

Goals

  • Refine technique in all strokes, starts, turns, and underwater phases.
  • Achieve Michigan Regional and State Qualifying Standards.
  • Prepare for higher-level training in the Platinum Group.

Expectations

  • Attendance: Swimmers are strongly recommended to maintain a minimum of 70% attendance to ensure consistent progress.
  • Preparedness: Swimmers must arrive on time and come prepared with all required equipment. Swimmers in this group learn how to take ownership of their personal development and proactively communicate any scheduling conflicts or changes. 
  • Meet Participation: Swimmers are expected to participate in most of the scheduled meets and compete in events selected by the Lead coach.

Advancement Criteria
To advance to the Gold Group, athletes must meet the following criteria:

  • Be between the ages of 10 and 12.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle more complex training intervals.
  • Consistently complete the following sets:
    • 6 x 100 Freestyle @ 1:50
    • 6 x 100 Kick @ 2:10
    • 4 x 100 IM @ 2:00
