Mini-rays
Mission
The Mini-Rays program bridges the gap between swim lessons and competitive swimming. Swimmers in this group focus on developing fundamental skills and stroke mechanics in all four strokes in a positive, fun, and supportive environment. The goal is to build confidence in the water and prepare swimmers for future competitive opportunities.
Goals
- Achieve legal technique in all four strokes.
- Learn key swimming fundamentals such as starts, turns, and streamlining.
- Foster a love for swimming and emphasize regular practice attendance.
Target Meets
- Intrasquad meets to introduce swimmers to competition.
Expectations
- Behavior: Swimmers should respect coaches and teammates and demonstrate good sportsmanship.
- Attendance: Regular attendance is encouraged for steady progress and skill development.
- Meet Participation: Swimmers are expected to participate in SST Intra-squad meets.
Entry Criteria
To join Mini-Rays Groups, swimmers must meet the following criteria:
- Mini-Rays 1 (8 & under)
- Must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted and have basic understanding of Freestyle and Backstroke.
- Mini-Rays 2 (9 & under)
- Must be able to swim 25 yards Freestyle and Backstroke legally.
- Demonstrate proper Breaststroke and/or Butterfly kick.
